Description

Captured this H-Alpha shot, of the Elephant's Trunk Nebula region IC1396, from driveway in the city, using my Orion ED80T on an Atlas Pro mount. This shot only represents a small part of this vast region in the Constellation Cepheus. Seeing was average. Guiding done using a Starshoot mini guider. Capturing camera used was a Atik 460EX mono with a Astrodon 3nm Ha filter. Captured 12x900sec shots. 3hrs worth of data. Post processing was done with PixInsight and Photoshop CS6. I didn't use a field flattner, which may explain some of the asymmetrical stars out near the edges. My plan is to continue to build on this data, and try to get at least 8-10hrs of Ha. I did a single 15min exposure for OIII and SII, but didn't see anything close to what I saw in H-alpha.
